Mongolia wins at Inspiring Asia again as Big Happy Family takes Best Micro Film Award

Big Happy Family (Өнөр бүл), directed by C. Khulan and M. Munkhgerel, won the Best Micro Film Award at the Inspiring Asia Micro Film Festival 2026 Grand Final in Manila, Philippines, on 25 October. The award comes with USD 50,000 for the creative team.

The six-minute film, set in a Mongolian ger, looks at loneliness in old age with irony and tenderness. It stood out among +900 films across eight Asian regional festivals.

And it was not the only Mongolian film on that stage. Looking for Us by GerHub, directed by Ts. Bilguun and E. Munkhjin, also reached the Grand Final. Congratulations to both teams. We are so proud of Mongolian young talents.

At Lorinet Foundation, we aim to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities facing Mongolia’s young people and families. Inspiring Asia does exactly that. It brings Mongolian stories to an Asia-wide audience and spotlights locally driven solutions that help communities grow stronger together.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Li Foundation, which founded Inspiring Asia, and to the Inspiring Asia Main Committee for opening this stage to Mongolian storytellers. We are deeply grateful to Golomt Foundation, our regional supporter, for standing behind Mongolia's participation for a second year. And thank you to every Mongolian filmmaker who shared a story with us this year.

Two years, two wins. We can't wait to see what Mongolian filmmakers bring next.
