Lorinet Foundation hosted our annual partners gathering in November to extend appreciation for the remarkable cooperation and efforts of our partners throughout the year. The convening also served as a platform for knowledge exchange, focussing on the theme ‘Boosting Social Funding for Mongolia’.
The event was attended by the representatives of our portfolio organisation in Mongolia and other knowledge partners that included Zorig Foundation, World Vision Mongolia, OneSky Mongolia, The Asia Foundation Mongolia, GerHub, Whyze Agency, AmCham Mongolia, Christina Noble Children’s Foundation, UNICEF Mongolia, International Labour Organisation, and Decent Work for Youth Network.
Commencing the event, Lorinet Foundation’s Country Director Tamir Batsaikhan, provided an overview of the foundation’s strategy update. This was followed by an open discussion on ‘Boosting Social Funding for Mongolia’ aimed at delineating the landscape of social investment in the region.
Despite its geopolitical disposition, Mongolia benefits from a relatively large number of international donors. However, the social funding landscape predominantly comprises development financing, which is experiencing a decrease due to several factors such as debt ceiling and global geopolitical tensions. Consequently, both local and international NGOs are exploring avenues to diversify funding by engaging with the private sector. While this relationship is in its early stages, the potential for strategic partnership is high when mutual alignment exists. Notably, companies are increasingly adopting long-term policies such as SDGs and ESG, indicating a positive trend despite existing challenges.
The evening proved insightful, thanks to our partners who openly shared their experience, approaches, challenges, success stories, and lessons learnt. Many have expressed interest in follow-up formal meetings or workshops to enhance each other’s capacity and deepen thematic knowledge exchange. Additionally, there’s a shared aspiration to explore collaboration opportunities.
At Lorinet Foundation, we firmly believe in the power of collective efforts. Thus, fostering ‘Partnership for Sustained Impact’ remains at the core of our foundation’s philosophy.
